Ian Keough is the CEO and Founder of HYPAR. Ian’s early work at Buro Happold identified a need for mobile applications to leverage BIM data. His software goBIM was acquired by Vela systems for their Vela Field product, which later became Autodesk’s BIM 360 Field. His open source visual programming language Dynamo attracted a worldwide community of AEC software developers.

Anthony Hauck is the President and Founder of HYPAR. With more than 20 years’ experience in architecture, engineering, construction, and IT, followed by 10 years of innovative software development leading the Autodesk Revit + AEC Generative Design groups, Anthony has always sought to improve building practices through the strategic application of advanced technologies.

Computational approach for the assessment of the effect of solar radiation on indoor thermal comfort.
The application of computational design and visual scripting to the design process have introduced many new capabilities in environmental and sustainable design, such as automating workflows, integrating different simulation engines and generating data visualizations. This presentation will describe a new approach for the calculation of the influence of solar radiation on human comfort near various complex façade systems and possible office layouts. The new method uses a Radiance ray-trace method incorporated into a Grasshopper script to assess the hourly intensity of solar radiation that passes through a facade and lands on the human body. This is done in accordance with a revised definition of the projected area factor for different users’ positions and sky view obstruction. The proposed method allows calculating with high accuracy the comfort effect of solar radiation on occupants throughout the year.
 
Andrea Zani is a Facade Project Engineer at Eckersley O’Callaghan in San Francisco where he works with architects and manufacturers during the entire design process to deliver high-performance facade systems. Prior to EOC, he worked at Heintges and before that, Arup as Building Science Specialist. During my PhD at Politecnico di Milano and at University of California, Berkeley, he researched façade performance-based design and sustainable design coupled with computational design.
